Twitter springs for payment startup CardSpring

For years, businesses have used social media for engagement and conversations with their customers, but what if you could buy what you want right from a Tweet?

That’s the question Twitter seems poised to answer with its recent acquisition of the startup, CardSpring, which allows developers to create credit-card-linked applications, including discount coupons, loyalty programs and virtual currencies. It remains to be seen what this will look like on Twitter, but it will likely help the network compete against Facebook’s new e-commerce capabilities.
